Google's New Partnership Aims to Resolve Wear OS's Health Data Challenges.

Google, Masimo, and Qualcomm have teamed up to enhance health tracking on Wear OS, introducing new premium features. This collaboration allows Google to license Masimo's advanced blood oxygen technology and other health capabilities, ensuring accurate health monitoring and seamless syncing with Android devices.

Manufacturers will retain the freedom to design their smartwatch exteriors and interfaces, while Masimo will handle the internal technology, including design, production, and testing. Additionally, the companies have created a reference framework to streamline the development of Wear OS smartwatches.

You may recall Masimo's legal battles with Apple over its blood oxygen tracking technology. Rather than reach a licensing agreement, Apple opted to disable the feature on its Watch models.

With this new partnership, Google is set to elevate the Wear OS experience, offering a variety of health tracking options while maintaining quality and reliability for consumers. The platform aims to provide manufacturers with essential tools to integrate effective health features, ensuring a robust wearable ecosystem.
