Trump Suggests Jewish Voters Could Be Blamed if He Loses in November

Washington, D.C.
— Former President Donald Trump stated Thursday that Jewish voters would bear some responsibility if he loses in the upcoming election, intensifying his criticisms of Jewish Democrats at an event aimed at raising awareness about antisemitism.

“I’m not predicting anything, but if I’m polling at 40%, the Jewish people would play a big part in that loss,” Trump told attendees in Washington. He suggested that if 60% of voters back his opponent, Kamala Harris, it reflects poorly on Jewish support for him, claiming that Democrats are detrimental to Israel.

Trump did not reference any specific polling data to support his claims.

At the event, Trump expressed disappointment in Jewish Americans for not supporting him in greater numbers, reiterating his belief that they should back him given his record on Israel. He characterized the upcoming election as critical for Israel’s survival, asserting that a Harris victory would threaten the country’s existence.

He went on to criticize Jewish voters for their perceived loyalty to Democrats, suggesting that their choices reflect a “curse” that prevents them from recognizing his contributions to Israel.

“Any Jewish person that votes for her or the Democrat Party should have their head examined,” he remarked, despite Harris not claiming support from any groups he mentioned.

Trump’s remarks have drawn criticism for perpetuating antisemitic tropes, particularly the idea of dual loyalty among Jewish Americans. Advocacy groups condemned his use of a discussion about antisemitism to attack the Jewish community, stating that such rhetoric endangers the safety of Jews both domestically and abroad.

As Trump continues to emphasize his administration's support for Israel, he has previously expressed frustration with Jewish voters for not recognizing his efforts, which he cites as unprecedented.

His comments come as tensions surrounding U.S. foreign policy toward Israel remain high, particularly amid ongoing conflicts in the region.
